If you are looking to serve our community through First Coral Gables, we have opportunities for you! We want people to feel at home from the moment they drive onto our campus, as they walk through our doors, as they worship God, as they connect with the people around them, and as they head back out into the world. Welcoming + Connecting

Greeters

Welcome people to our sanctuary, and generally help provide an environment of hospitality and warmth. Commitment is one month per quarter at the service of your choice!

Ushers

Our wonderful usher teams help worshippers find seats in the sanctuary, hand out bulletins and candles, and collect the offering. Commitment is one month per quarter at the service of your choice!

Music + Technology Arts

Altar Guild

This team prepares our beautiful sanctuary for worship. This encompasses the set up, decoration, and maintenance for all regularly scheduled services, including communion as well as our special services and events. Experience the knowledge that you helped create a beautiful, organized, welcoming space for worship!

Chancel Choir

This is our adult choir that leads the congregation in worship at our 11:00 Traditional Service. All are welcome to sing with the Chancel Choir. No auditions necessary! The choir sings music from a variety of genres, from classical anthems to gospel songs to world music. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings, 7:30-9:00pm in the Choir Room. In addition to Sunday mornings, the choir also sings for special services and concerts. If you enjoy singing, the choir is a fun and enjoyable way to serve the church!

sound technicians

Be a part of the team that makes it all sounds sooo good on Sunday mornings! You would work with our Lead Tech, Isaac Eves to: turn on the sound equipment, adjust volume, check batteries, and control the microphones. Other special events occur where our trained techs can make a little extra income, such as: weddings and funerals. Full training is provided with supervised help.

video production team

If you know how to create videos on your phone or camera, and are interested in producing videos for our ministries and worship services, we'd love to talk with you!

photography team

Our First Coral Gables family is involved in powerful ministries all throughout our community. We' love to have you join us in creating powerful images of these ministries for use on our website and in worship!

Administration & Facilities

church office communications

Be a part of a fun team of volunteers who prepare the bulletins and other special projects for mailing and distribution! Greet visitors to the church office by providing hospitality, answering our phone, and assisting with general office tasks. Computer work is available, but not required.

facilities ministry

If you're handy with tools, like to work with your hands, or have a special skill such as plumbing, electricity, etc., we would love to talk with you! We have many opportunities on our Coral Gables campus for people who like to garden, paint, trim hedges, pressure clean, rake, and much more!

OFFERING COUNTERS

Tithes and financial gifts received weekly are counted and prepared for deposit by a team of "counters." Training is provided to ensure we are following standard practices for handling this important area of church finances.

Congregational Care

visitation team

We have many people in our family of faith who are no longer able to make it to worship because of illness or disability. You can be a part of keeping them connected and letting them know that they are loved and valued! If you enjoy spending time with people in need, we would love to talk with you about the visitation team!

PRAYER team

Offer prayer for people in need by being a part of this "chain," lifting up the requests given to the church each week.

TRANSPORTATION TEAM

We have many people who would love to attend our worship services and Sunday School classes, but who are no longer able to drive. If you would be willing to provide transportation to the service of your choice, we would love to connect you with someone in your area! Other transportation opportunities are also available throughout the week.

Ministries with Children & Youth

CONNECTKIDS children's ministries

We love children at First Coral Gables! If you love children as much as we do, we'd love to have you join us in teaching them about how much God loves them. Our ConnectKids Sunday School is a vital part of our church, and the children lead us in worship in the 11:00am service on monthly “Sit-Together Sundays.” Our nursery staff is certified to provide childcare for younger babies during worship as well. But we always have room for a volunteer or two to assist! All nursery and ConnectKids volunteers must complete a background check to comply with our Child & Youth Protection Policy. We'd love to talk with you about this important ministry!

The Growing Place School

This First Coral Gables ministry is a well-established Christian early childhood center serving children ages one year through 3rd grade. We provide high-quality care and education based on the latest research and best practices in early childhood education, in a safe, loving and nurturing environment. Serving our community and beyond with love and dedication since 1963, The Growing Place School welcomes families from all backgrounds, faiths, ethnicities, and nationalities as we value being part of a rich and diverse cultural community. All TGPS volunteers must complete a background check to comply with our Child & Youth Protection Policy.

CORE youth ministrY

If you would like to impact the lives of students in our congregation, we would love to serve with you! You don't have to be a teacher or a trained professional, just someone with a passionate heart and a desire to watch young Christians grow in their faith. Youth participation begins in the 6th grade, and continues through 12th grade. There are many ways you can volunteer: helping lead small groups, preparing meals or driving for events, facilitating mission opportunities, mentoring a student, coordinating activities, and much more! All Youth Ministry volunteers must complete a background check to comply with our Child & Youth Protection Policy.
